News
from the last CIMG monthly meeting
The last monthly meeting was well attended
and two presentations were given. At the end of the presentations
Auslan provided an update on some upcoming CIMG initiatives.
The
first presentation was given by Mr Ben Zhu, Managing Partner
from B&G Law Firm. He spoke mineral rights in China and
the process to obtain and transfer these rights. He noted
as well the importance of the of the "Foriegn Investment
Catalogue" that outlines in what areas foriegn investment
is encouraged, allowed but restricted and forbidden. His presentation
also outlined the main National People's Congress Laws as
well as the State Council Decrees. His presentation can be

The
second presentation was by Mr Zhang from the Shandong Provincial
Suverying and Mapping Institute. He presented on the Kulankatzigan
Coal Deposits in Xinjiang Zundong Coal-field where they are
seeking a potential partner. He outlined that institute possesses
exploration rights for four blocks in Zundong Coal-field covering
117.98 km2. The boundaries of the four blocks are continuous
and can be unified into one mining area. He outlined the estimated
reserves as well as the investment climate of the county where
the deposit is located. For those interested in this project

A
note was made by a representative from the CNIA Lead and Zinc
Sub Branh on its holding of the second session of lead-zinc
technology and equipment innovation forum and environmental
exchange. The forum will be held on on October 15 to 18, 2007
in Chizhou, Anhui Province. For those interested in this project
more information is included in the presentation that can
be downladed here.
Auslan made note of the following intiatives that the CIMG
undertaking in the coming months:
- Mission
to Ningxia and Shanxi Provinces: The CIMG in conjunction
with the organizers of the 'China Taiyuan International
Coal & Energy New Industry Expo' , The People's Government
of Shanxi Province and Ministry of Commerce of the People's
Republic of China, will organize a trade mission for CIMG
members in Shanxi Province. This mission will be preceded
by another mission to Ningxia Province. The Ningxia Mission
is being organised in conjunction with the Yinchuan Municipal
People's Government Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, Ningxia
province. These missions will be of interest to CIMG members
with interest in opportunities China's coal sector. The
mission will provide a platform for those on the mission
to meet relevant government departments, domestic companies
as well being able to attend the 'China Taiyuan International
Coal & Energy New Industry Expo'.
- CIMG
White Paper 2007: The CIMG Secretariat is seeking interest
from members who would like be part of the committee that
will oversee the drafting of the CIMG's White Paper 2007.

Please note that the first committee meeting will be held
in the middle of August.

events around China Mining 2007: The CIMG Secretariat will
be organising a number of events around China Mining 2007.
Many will be speaker focussed and if would like to take
part as a speaker or learn more about the program please

China
Mining 101 - Investment Oppotunities and Challenges in the
China Mineral Resources Market
The CIMG is pleased to
announce this information session for fund managers and analysts
that will provide an overview of the policy environment, investment
environment and guidance on how to complete due diligence
and monitoring of investments in China.
The
event will be held at the Toronto Stock Exchange Gallery Room
on 11 September and we urge you to advise your broker, fund

Beijing issued 2 new regulations. The CIMG was recently informed
that MLR Beijing issued 2 new regulations that will come into
affect on the Jan 1 2007:

Notice
of the People's Government of Yunnan Province on new four
laws including Management Rules of Yunnan Province for Rights
of Exploitation and Mining. Laws in Yunnan were released that
focus on the Rights of Exploitation and Mining, Interim Procedures
of Yunnan Province for Levying and Management of Fees for
Compensated Use of Mineral Resources, Interim Procedures of
Yunnan Province for Management of Mineral Property Transaction,
and the Interim Procedures of Yunnan Province for Management
of Deposit for Security for Rehabilitation and Governing of
