The China International Mining Group (CIMG) is a not-for-profit forum that represents the international mining community in China's exploration, mining and minerals processing industry in its contribution to sustainable development and society. As such, the CIMG is a forum for International mining and service companies plus individuals with interests in creating sustainable business opportunities in China's mining industry.
The CIMG's strategic objective is to advocate public policy and operational practice for a world-class industry that is safe, profitable, innovative, environmentally and socially responsible, attuned to community needs and expectations.
The CIMG aims to promote sustainable investment and best business practice in the mining sector through sharing non-competitive information and addressing issues of common concern to potential mining investors in China by providing channels for dialogue with the relevant authorities.
The CIMG's approach to sustainable development:
The CIMG recognises that the mining industry's past success and future prosperity is dependent on a sound and expanding national economy, an educated and cohesive society and a sustainable natural environment.
For this reason, the CIMG supports public policy settings aimed at the following objectives:
-
sustainable economic growth characterised by low inflation, low interest rates, fiscal prudence, and a skilled and productive workforce;
-
a sound, fair and stable society, where effort is encouraged and rewarded and a helping hand extended to those in need; and
-
a sustainable natural environment, reflecting national consistency and balance in policy settings.
The CIMG recognises that the future of the Chinese minerals industry is inseparable from the global pursuit of sustainable development. Through the integration of economic progress, responsible social development and effective environmental management, the industry is committed to contributing to the sustained growth and prosperity of current and future generations.
Currently the CIMG is working with the NDRC/CCII, SEPA, MOLAR, MofCom, NIOS and a number of Chinese industry associations in regards to its work on various initiatives. It also has begun work with the ICMM in the promotion of best business practice and sustainability in China.
The CIMG is supported by the China Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment, a number of international Chambers of Commerce in Beijing, Australian Embassy in Beijing, British Chamber of Commerce in Beijing, Canadian Embassy in Beijing and South African Business Council. |
