The objectives of the CIMG take into consideration Chinese Government's policy towards mining and existing opportunities and barriers in the field of exploration in China, underlying the promotion of sustainable mining opportunities in China. The objectives of the CIMG are:

• Provide a common platform of knowledge on the development of the Mining laws, rules and regulations and the means to communicate with the relevant local authorities both national and provincial on these. 
• Clarify the relevant regulations and procedures in relation to taxation and project approvals for foreign and international mining entities.
• Articulate and promote topics and issues related to mining, bringing about the exchange of information associated to the development of mineral exploration in China.
• Establish new initiatives to assist in the sustained development and promotion of the best business practice, safety and other measures in order to mitigate or eliminate negative environmental and social impacts when mining.
