The CIMG and Antaike in conjunction with CNIA, BSR and CAEFI, organized a roundtable discussion for mining companies and those companies associated with the mining industry as part of the CNIA's annual forum in Nanning, Guangxi Province in April 2008. The roundtable discussion focussed on thought leadership in the area of the implementation of Sustainable Mining and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) practices in China.
The roundtable created a platform to increase information sharing between foreign and domestic mining companies on the benefits, challenges and opportunities of adopting sustainable mining and CSR practices. Recent government policy in China is indicating that sustainable mining and CSR practices in China will become an important business driver in the future. Those attending the roundtable discussion formulated solutions to issues related to implementing sustainable mining and CSR in the provinces of China.
